Petra Diamonds is an industry-leading team and one of the world’s largest diamond resources of 305 million carats. The company’s mines produce full spectrum of diamonds such as fancy coloured diamonds, blue diamonds from Cullinan mines, ‘bubblegum pink’ diamonds from Williamson mines, fancy yellow diamonds from Finsch and Kimberley Underground and the exceptional quality white diamonds from Koffiefontein. Petra Diamonds has operations in Finsch, Cullinan, Koffiefontein and Kimberley Ekapa Mining Joint Venture in South Africa as well as Williamson in Tanzania.
Petra Diamonds Bursaries
Petra Diamonds aims to improve and expand South Africa’s skills base by providing an opportunity for South Africans to acquire qualifications and skills to develop a career in the mining industry through bursaries. Bursaries are offered in the fields of Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, Mining, Metallurgy, Earth Sciences: Geology as well as Environmental Management, Human Resources Management, Financial management and Survey. The bursary covers full tuition fees, full residence, meals, travel and personal allowances.
The bursary is renewable every year and is subject to the bursary holder’s academic performance. Successful candidates are required to perform practical vacation employment during December and January. Upon graduation, bursary holders have the obligation to work for Petra Diamonds for the length of time equal to the bursary duration. Failure to comply with this obligation will result to bursary amount repayment.
Petra Diamonds Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
- South African citizen
- Admission Point Score (APS) of 35 for Engineering and an APS of 31 for other directions of study
- Accepted/registered at accredited university or university of technology
- No criminal record and Medically fit
- Good academic performance
- Relocation flexibility
- Preference will be given to candidates from local mining communities
