NSFAS Application Status: Students can check their NSFAS Application Status through your school’s Financial aid Office.

NSFAS 2023 Applications are now open, to apply, follow this guide:
Step 1: Log onto www.nsfas.org.zaTo Create a new account on Nsfas Portal
- Type in first names (as per ID number)
- Type in Surname (as per ID number)
- Type in your ID number (will your username)
- Type in your own Email address
- Type in your own Cellphone number
- Accept terms and conditions
- Tick the box provided, to allow NSFAS to check the information provided (compulsory)

If you applied via CAO go to www.cao.ac.za you’ll see “check my application status” click there then enter your CAO number you’ll see every detail about your application.

Then you apply for study funding at National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), you can usually expect response few days after the application closing date.
However, if you still haven’t heard back from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) it might be time to take things into your own hands. It’s not a difficult process, but to make things even easier, we’ve provided you with the below link which you can click to access.
Step 1:
- If you would like to check the status of your 2023 NSFAS application, please visit the NSFAS website. Click on MyNSFAS account and login with your ID and the password you created during your application.

If the status of your application is “Provisionally Funded”, please contact Unisa’s Division: Student Funding (DSF). Please contact NSFAS for all other outcomes, as NSFAS is responsible for the application process.
