Kumba Iron Ore was founded in November 2006, operating primarily in South Africa with mining operations in the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces and port operations in Saldanha Bay in the Western Cape province. The company is a leading supplier of high-quality iron ore to the global steel industry. Kumba is listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE).
Kumba Iron Ore Bursaries
Kumba Iron Ore bursary program is given to students who wish to continue studies for a Degree, Diploma or BTech qualification in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Industrial engineering, Civil engineering, Geology (Honours) and Minerals Surveying (BTech). The company’s bursary program covers for registration, tuition and excursion fees, book, computer, calculator, accommodation and meals allowances, paid vacation work, practical training and personal development training. The bursary duration will be dependent on the candidates’ year of study. Bursary holders will be required to perform vacation work that will take place in Northern Cape. Permanent employment after bursary holder’s graduation is not guaranteed as it will depend on the company’s needs.
Candidates from local operational communities such as Sishen, Kolomela and Thabazimbi mines will be given preference.

Degree:
- Pure Maths & Science (Achievement level – 6 & 7)
- English (Achievement level – 5)
B-Tech
- Pure Maths & Science (Achievement level 5)
- English (Achievement level – 5)

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications without any feedback a month from closing date should be considered unsuccessful. Communication will be with shortlisted candidates only. Shortlisted candidates will have to undergo assessments and interviews.
